Hurricanes' goalie Legace apparently injured during scramble in front of net

PITTSBURGH - Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Manny Legace was lifted in the second period Saturday against the Pittsburgh Penguins with an undisclosed injury.

Legace suffered an unspecified lower body injury after being levelled during a scramble in front of the net.

Legace needed several minutes to get back to his feet after being upended by a hit from Penguins forward Tyler Kennedy, who was called for goaltender interference. Legace was checked by team trainers and initially stayed in the game although he appeared to be shaken up.

Legace left the ice when play stopped again 49 seconds later and was replaced by Justin Peters.
