Canucks winger Mikael Samuelsson named NHL's first star of the week

NEW YORK - Vancouver Canucks forward Mikael Samuelsson is the NHL's first star of the week after leading the league with 10 points in four games.

The winger recorded six goals and four assists last week as the Canucks extended their lead in the Northwest Division to five points.

Phoenix forward Lee Stempniak earned second star honours after scoring five goals in three Coyotes wins.

Predators goaltender Pekka Rinne posted back-to-back wins en route to being named third star. He finished the week with a 1.44 goals-against average and a .943 save percentage with one shutout in three appearances.
