Report: Blackhawks blueliner Brian Campbell to miss rest of the season

According to several media outlets, Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Brian Campbell’s season could be over due to injuries sustained as a result of being thrown into the boards by Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin Sunday.

Early in the first period of Sunday’s game, Ovechkin was chasing Campbell, who was carrying the puck in his own end. Almost immediately after Campbell passed the puck, Ovechkin shoved Campbell from behind in the direction of the boards.

Ovechkin was given a five-minute major for boarding and a game misconduct for the hit. It's his third game misconduct of the season.

Reports have Campbell’s injuries listed as a broken clavicle as well as broken ribs.
