Joey MacDonald, Kyle Calder lead Marlies past Wolves 3-0 in AHL action

ROSEMONT, Ill. - Joey MacDonald made 40 saves and Kyle Calder scored twice as the Toronto Marlies downed the Chicago Wolves 3-0 in American Hockey League play Friday.

Tim Brent had the other goal for Toronto (26-30-11), which scored three times in an eight-minute span in the second.

Drew MacIntyre made 22 saves in defeat for Chicago (41-19-6), which lost at home for the first time in regulation since Dec. 27, a span of 17 games.

"They had outstanding goaltending tonight. MacDonald really played well," said Wolves Head Coach Don Lever. "We didn't play well the first half of the game. It took us a while to get going, and they came at us and finished us."

Brent scored 1:16 into the second when he sent a wrist shot past MacIntyre.

Toronto made it 2-0 just 2:09 later when Brendan Mikkelson fed Calder. The Marlies winger buried his second of the game at 9:12 to round out the scoring.
