The Dallas Stars acquisition of goaltender Kari Lehtonen from the Atlanta Thrashers is a clear indicator Marty Turco’s days with the Stars are numbered. It’s not a question of if, but when.

Stars GM Joe Nieuwendyk claimed for the time being he’ll carry Lehtonen, Turco and Alex Auld, but that hasn’t stopped speculation he’s working the phones in hopes of moving Turco.

Early speculation had the Philadelphia Flyers and Chicago Blackhawks as potential destinations, although their respective cap constraints make such a move difficult.

The uncertainty over Ray Emery’s health is the basis for the Turco-to-Flyers speculation, but they would have to send nearly $5 million in salary back to Dallas to make Turco, a UFA this summer, fit under the cap.

That’s probably not feasible for the cost-conscious Stars. Team owner Tom Hicks recently said the club would remain on a tight budget, which will likely prevent them from taking on expensive contracts via trade or free agency.

According to capgeek.com, the Stars will finish the season with a cap hit around $50 million and currently have $33 million committed to 11 players for 2010-11.

While rumors persist the Blackhawks are looking for a goaltender, recent reports suggest they are targeting the Anaheim Ducks for blueline depth and roster toughness.

The Chicago Daily Herald reported team sources claimed GM Stan Bowman was in talks with the Ducks over the possibility of re-acquiring former Blackhawks defenseman James Wisniewski and might have inquired into the availability of enforcer George Parros.

The reports suggest Cam Barker might be offered up in return for Wisniewski, who’s a restricted free agent at season’s end. Barker’s earning just more than $3 million this season, while Wisniewski’s cap hit is $2.75 million, so the dollars would fit for this season.

Given the Blackhawks’ salary cap issues for next season, they wouldn’t be able to re-sign Wisniewski without shipping out more salary, but such a move would clear Barker’s three-year contract from their books.

• The hockey world received a surprise earlier this week when Bob Gainey stepped down as GM of the Canadiens, handing the reins over to assistant Pierre Gauthier.

That move led some to wonder what impact this could have on the Habs potential player moves before the March trade deadline, specifically the trade status of goaltenders Jaroslav Halak and Carey Price.

Gauthier suggested during the press conference announcing his promotion that he intended on going forward this season with both Halak and Price, but rumors persist one might be moved.

Given how well Halak has played this season, the Canadiens aren’t likely to move him while they’re still in the playoff chase. Price has struggled, but he remains a solid insurance policy in case Halak slumps or is injured down the stretch.

Gauthier will eventually have to decide between one or the other as both are impending RFAs, but that probably won’t happen until the June entry draft.

• Ignore speculation the Boston Bruins might shop goaltender Tim Thomas. He’s carrying an expensive ($5 million per season) four-year contract with a no-trade clause, which the Bruins have not asked him to waive.

WELL, OKAY, I'LL JUMP ON THE BANDWAGON, AS AN INTERESTED PARTY who would like to see GEORGE PARROS in a BLACKHAWK sweater !!! For sure it would make our nemesis' grow eyeballs in the back of their heads . And unlike DUSTIN BUFUGLIEN, PARROS wouldn't have a problem going to the front of the goal on a frequent basis and collecting the garbage that made PHIL ESPOSITO famous !!! The HAWKS could then separate themselves from BEN EAGER, who can no longer handle those duties, due to the many concussions that he has had. LET'S SEE IF THAT GOOF; WILLIE MITCHELL FROM VANCOUVER HAS THE INCLINATION TO PUT A SCOTT STEVENS TYPE HIT ON ONE OF THE HAWKS YOUNG PLAYMAKERS, LIKE HE SERVED UP TO JOHNNY TOEWS EARLY IN THE SEASON, IF GEORGE PARROS IS WEARING A BLACKHAWK SWEATER ??? !!! And let's face it; with GEORGE PARROS wearing a #22 GRANT MULVEY BLACKHAWK sweater, the BLUE COLLAR CHICAGO HAWKS FANS will go NUTZ watching him. Most enforcers are scratched in the playoffs; PARROS will show Q why he would deserve to maintain a roster spot for the post season !!!

Forget about JVR or Giroux to Montreal. If Huet was worth a second round pick, it says about the value of a goaltender. Maybe Hartnell, but even then, I would be surprised if they give him unless theres an interesting pick with the goaltender.

With Emery's health up in the air, the Flyers are definetly in the market for a goaltender. Montreal has two number one goalies and a lack of scoring punch up front. Both teams open up a two game set prior to the Olympic break. I wouldn't be shocked if you see a deal, maybe JVR or Giroux for Price? Maybe Hartnell, and a pick?

Parros trade turned into T.J. Galiardi. 26pt,+12, for the Avs as a rookie this year so far. Parros is a bad man but we're alright with that trade.

I don't see Parros going anywhere. I personally think the Avs were fools to trade him in the first place. I remember when the Avs picked him up from my beloved Kings... I myself was pissed off about the kings putting him on Waivers, butas much as I hate the Ducks, I will come forth and say don't do it. Parros is a class act, I don't think the Ducks mgmt is that stupid. this would make the Hawks a stronger team all in all. Teams would think twice about messing with the kids. I don't see Georgie going out of Anahiem... Although i wish he was back in L.A.

I hope the Canadiens keep both goalies until July 1st instead of getting crap players in return. Since they are both RFA, if a team makes an interesting offer to any of them, we'd at least get some good picks in return. (Kind of like the Bruins got for Kessel)
