NHL should look to NFL for replay system

Kevin Gooden, Terrace, B.C.

This year's Super Bowl illustrated the importance of the video challenge.

The NHL should add this for any play normally subject to a penalty and for goal-scoring plays.

Allow each team three video challenges per game, which could be applied to calls or non-calls made by the referee.

If the challenger loses either of the first two, charge them one timeout.

If they lose the last, they have to serve a delay of game penalty.

Implementing this suggestion would add drama and help to ensure critical plays have been correctly called.
