NEW YORK - Washington Capitals sniper Alex Ovechkin has once again been named the NHL's first star of the week.
It's the third time he's received the honour this season and the second time in four weeks.
Toronto's newly acquired goalie, Jean-Sebastien Giguere, was named second star and Washington's Nicklas Backstrom is the third star.
Ovechkin was tied for the week's scoring lead with 10 points, including seven goals, leading the Capitals to a 4-0-0 record.
Giguere set a Maple Leafs record by recording shutouts in his first two games with the team, over New Jersey and Ottawa.
Backstrom matched Ovechkin's 10 points last week and was named the league's third star for the second week in a row.

"Last year we came in as maybe an underdog, quietly. Got off to the right start just because teams weren't really ready for us. But this time around that's not the case. They realize we are a good team and they're ready to go against us, right off the get-go."
