VIDEO: Fisher’s resurgence key to Sens success

When the Ottawa Senators were forced to trade disgruntled sniper Dany Heatley to San Jose, many people thought there would be noticeable dip in the teams offensive output. But the opposite has been true. Last season the Sens averaged 2.6 goals per game; this year they are averaging 2.8.

One of the reasons the team hasn’t lost its offensive prowess is the play of center Mike Fisher. Fisher leads the Sens in goals with 19 and his 41 points put him just one behind team leader Daniel Alfredsson. While he has cooled somewhat recently, the 29-year-old is on pace to set career highs in both goals and assists.

His numbers are even more impressive when compared to his anemic totals from last season. In 79 games, Fisher only mustered 13 goals and 32 points. .

Ryan Kennedy caught up with Fisher and the Sens to talk about his bounce back season.
