Former NHLer Mike Danton to speak about move to Halifax to play varsity hockey

HALIFAX, N.S. - Former NHL player Mike Danton, who was convicted of conspiracy to commit murder, will break his silence to discuss his move to a Halifax university to play varsity hockey.

Danton will hold a news conference Thursday about his decision to enrol at Saint Mary's University, where he'll join the hockey team.

A statement today from the university says Danton, 29, will not talk about the incident that landed him behind bars.

Danton was released from a United States prison in March of last year after he was convicted in 2004 in a failed murder-for-hire plot.

He returned to Canada and was granted full parole last September.

He arrived at Saint Mary's last week.
