Selanne's broken jaw might prevent him from playing for Finland at Olympics

ANAHEIM, Calif. - Teemu Selanne might not make his fifth appearance at the Olympics for Finland.

The Anaheim Ducks star underwent surgery on his broken jaw Thursday in Orange, Calif. He's expected to miss between two and six weeks. Finland's first game at the Vancouver Olympics is Feb. 17 against Belarus.

A deflected shot hit Selanne's face Wednesday night against Boston.

He was playing for just the third time after missing 17 games with a broken left hand. Ducks coach Randy Carlyle told reporters after the game he would be out "for weeks."

Selanne has been the top scorer at the Olympics twice, including at the 2006 Turin Games where he helped the Finns win silver.

The 39-year-old forward from Helsinki has 595 goals and 1,235 points in his NHL career. He helped Anaheim hoist the Stanley Cup in 2007.
