Capitals recall G Neuvirth from Hershey, say Varlamov is day-to-day with injury

ARLINGTON, Va. - The Washington Capitals have recalled goaltender Michal Neuvirth from the Hershey Bears of the AHL.

The team announced the move on Wednesday, saying that goalie Semyon Varlamov is day-to-day with a lower-body injury.

Neuvirth (NOY-vihrt) has a 2-2-0 record in six career NHL games. He led Hershey to the Calder Cup title last year and was named the AHL's playoff MVP after going 16-6 with a 1.92 GAA.

This is his second recall of the season. He has played in one game for the Capitals this year, making 19 saves in a 3-2 home loss to Montreal on Nov. 20.
