Hockey Canada considers announcing men's team one day earlier than planned

Hockey Canada is considering changing its New Year's Eve plans.

The organization is thinking of changing date of the unveiling of Canada's men's Olympic hockey team to Dec. 30th, a Hockey Canada official confirmed Saturday.

The 23-man roster is currently scheduled to be announced on Dec. 31st in conjunction with Canada's game against the United States at the world junior championship.

There is concern that the roster announcement could overshadow the Canada-U.S. junior game.

Regardless of the chosen date, the announced roster won't necessarily be the lineup fans see on the ice at the Vancouver Olympics.

Canada's lineup doesn't officially need to be registered until the day before the tournament begins in February, and changes might be made because of injury.
