NEW YORK - Pittsburgh captain Sidney Crosby is the NHL's first star of the week after leading the Penguins to three wins in four games.

New Jersey goaltender Martin Brodeur and Toronto winger Niklas Hagman are the second and third stars.

Crosby led all scorers with five goals and three assists last week. He recorded his second hat trick of the season and fifth of his career in an 8-3 win over the Rangers on Saturday.

Brodeur posted a 3-0-0 record with a 0.97 goals-against average and .963 save percentage last week as the Devils improved to 17-6-1.

Hagman tied Crosby for the league goal-scoring lead last week with five, helping the Maple Leafs earn five of a possible six points.
