Hurricanes' Cam Ward to miss three to four weeks with leg laceration

Hurricanes goalie Cam Ward remained in an Ohio hospital after his leg was cut by a skate and is expected to miss three to four weeks.

Ward was expected to remain in Columbus, Ohio, through Sunday and return to Raleigh on Monday for further evaluation by the team's head orthopedic doctor.

Ward didn't fly home after the Hurricanes' 3-2 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday night because of concerns about the stress of the flight on his injury.

He stretched to make a save while Blue Jackets forward Rick Nash skated through the crease in the first period, and it appeared Nash or a defenceman nicked Ward in the leg with a skate.
