NEW YORK - Carolina Hurricanes forward Tuomo Ruutu has been suspended three games for his hit on Colorado's Darcy Tucker.
The NHL announced the suspension Saturday after Ruutu hit Tucker hard into the boards during Colorado's 5-4 victory Friday.
Tucker suffered a concussion while Ruutu was assessed a major penalty and a game misconduct.
Ruutu will forfeit just over US$59,000 in salary and won't be eligible to return to the ice until Nov. 1 against San Jose.
