ZURICH, Switzerland - Radek Smolenak had a pair of goals to lead the Chicago Blackhawks to a 9-2 drubbing of HC Davos in NHL pre-season action Monday.
Playing before a pro-Davos crowd of 7,252, the Blackhawks cruised to victory in the first of two exhibition games against European opponents. Chicago faces ZSC Zurich on Tuesday ahead of their regular-season opener Friday against the Florida Panthers in Helsinki.
Patrick Kane also scored twice for the Blackhawks, while Evan Brophey, Troy Brouwer, Patrick Sharp, Duncan Keith and Brian Campbell added singles. Jonathan Toews had two assists.
Daniel Widing and Peter Guggisberg scored for HC Davos, which features former NHLers Reto von Arx, Tim Ramholt, Josef Marha and Petr Taticek.
Chicago outshot Davos 42-12.
