In recent years many first round draft picks have made the jump straight from major junior to the NHL. Matt Duchene will likely follow that path this season with the Colorado Avalanche. Even at the tender age of 18, he has all the skills required to play in the NHL.
Duchene scored 31 goals and 79 points with the Brampton Battalion of the Ontario Hockey League last season and helped lead the team to the OHL final. This season he hopes to help a rebuilding Colorado team get back on track.
Ryan Kennedy takes a closer look at the Avs’ first round acquisition.
