Anaheim Ducks sign D Brett Festerling to two-year deal

ANAHEIM, Calif. - The Anaheim Ducks have re-signed defenseman Brett Festerling to a two-year contract through the 2010-11 season.

Festerling played 40 games with Anaheim as a rookie last season, recording five assists and 18 penalty minutes.

He also played extensively for the Ducks' top minor-league affiliate in Iowa.

Festerling will face tough competition for a roster spot when Anaheim opens training camp Sept. 13.

Sheldon Brookbank and Ducks newcomers Nick Boynton, Luca Sbisa and Steve McCarthy will vie for playing time behind established defencemen Scott Niedermayer, Ryan Whitney and James Wisniewski.
