Canadiens sign right wing Matt D'Agostini to one-year contract

MONTREAL - Right-winger Matt D'Agostini signed a one-year contract with the Montreal Canadiens on Friday.

It is a two-way contract, which would pay less if he is sent to the minors this season.

The Sault-Ste-Marie, Ont., native had 12 goals and nine assists in 53 games for the Canadiens last season, and also scored 14 goals and 11 assists in 20 games with Hamilton of the AHL.

The six-foot 200-pound D'Agostini was drafted in the sixth round by Montreal in 2005.

I like the idea that players can be sent to the minors and be paid less, that should go for all hockey players in the NHL
