The Hockey News' NHL Jersey Rankings

Zoom Image

Once again, we start at the top with our summer rankings.

The NHL goes under the microscope as we rank from first to last the best jerseys in the league.

Will the Original Six once again dominate? Who from the new school can crash the party?

While logos (last year’s competition) are certainly a big part of the hockey jersey, we also considered shoulder patches, striping and piping – so teams gained and lost points based on those factors. You'll also notice both home and away jerseys are used to represent the teams. Simply put, we took the one we liked best out of the two. Third or alternate jersey weren't considered.

Plus, influence counts for a lot; how many teams have cribbed off the Bruins’ spoked ‘B,’ or the New York Rangers’ design?

With all that in play, here are the rankings. Click on each thumbnail for a larger picture.

And once you've taken in our top 30, head over to the voting page to select your favorite from our top 10 and help it to move on in the Jersey Tournament that will follow the rankings of each league’s jerseys (find the rankings and tournament schedule on The Hockey News Jersey Rankings and Tournament Central page).

I've always been a jersey freak.I love the US-CANADIAN sports jersey with no advertisment on them.I'm speaking from Italy and i simply hate those beautiful football jerseys ruined by the pubblicity.I think its a shame but football clubs need the cash.I only hope that MLB,NHL and NFL never advertise their jerseys. I'm a habs fan ever since i was living in Montréal back in the 80's and i must say that the bigger team logos are much better.I'm sure that many hockey fans remember how small the team logos were,i think that if you compare the old version with the new ones you'll see how "full" the jersey looks with the bigger one. Anyways,i vote for all 6 "original six" logos.I really appreciate the Pens.Love the colours and the angry penguin skating. The Sabres had a wonderful logo to bad they exchanged it with the new "futuristic" one. Flames is cool not only for the big C all in flame but also the flags on the shoulders.Minnesota's old big N with arrow was cool.Oh i never forget the Nordiques, miss em i hope to see them back in NHL.

My top five would have to be Minnesota, Nashville, Los Angeles, Phoenix (even though I like the original logo better) and San Jose. Being a Sabres fan ... one word - "ouch!"

1992-93 Senators and Sabres logos easily make the top of this list. 2009-10 Senators and Sabres logos easily make the bottom of this list. Who are you kiddin telling us the "Wild" have the 5th best logo?.....more like 16, at best! CCM jerseys were the pride of pro sports wear....remember the early '90s? Its hard to wear todays Kings jersey to even to the staples center! Reebok jerseys just dont have that same glamour.

First of all, you can't go wrong with the classics. The top four are absolutely right, although the '70s version of the Bruins is much better and I would rank that jersey Number 1. I agree, the Bruins have best logo in sports. As for the newer stuff, the Coyotes are simplicity at its best. And is anybody else with me on the fact that Reebok is ruining hockey jerseys? No bottom stripes? C'mon, these aren't practice jerseys. The worst might be the Flames. They look like roller hockey jerseys. The worst of all time: the original Ducks jersey. They should have been banished from hockey for that atrocity!

The Boston Bruins crest is the best in all of sports. Plus they could always do black and gold, so many others have tried black in the NHL since with disappointing results. The Flyers jerseys are weak. Their logo is big, simple and in your face. Toronto needs to add a border at the bottom of their jersey. San Jose's jerseys are tired. Their biggest problem is a pitiful logo. You want a GREAT shark logo. Go to this website and check out the WHA Los Angeles Sharks logo. Terrific! The Wild are going back to a new forest green jersey. It will be nice, but what is a team without as talented of a player as I have seen in the NHL since Lemieux and Gretzky --- that being Marian Gaborik. I swear by it.

ok, Dallas's jersey is by far the ugliest thing I've ever seen, how was it #16 when it should have been last by a landslide? Not only that, but the Thrashers, Panthers, Islanders and Cyoties should have been ranked higher, and the Wild and Rangers anren't that great. Colorado USED to have one of the coolest jersys, but thir re-designed one sucks. And sure, Buffalo's jersy isn't great, but it's stilll much better than quite a few others.

Oilers need to go classic, along with NYI, Canucks and Panthers.Sabres need the circle with sabres;circa last 3rd jersey. the kings need there first logo back, Senators logo looks like its made of playdough and the Wild need to get rid of the shoulder stripes

I would have the Wild, Blues, Caps, Penguins, Oilers, Islanders, and Panthers all right under the original 6. The rest I don't care for, epecially the Sabres, Hurricanes, and Kings.

Minnesota is by far the best...I also like the Thrashers, they should have used the blue jersey though. Im a little sick of the "original 6" worship always in the top 10. Not just here, but anywhere, people are afraid to 'disrespect the 6' I am sorry the best logos were NOT designed 70 years ago....someone had to say it. Another reason Im glad I do not like any of the 6, is that at least the other teams will change up thier logos now and then making it interesting.....if you're an original 6 team fan....your stuck with the exact same damn logo for the rest of eternity. ZZZZzzzzzzzzzz
