It’s the uniform both players and many fans wear into battle, the colors that represented the passion.

What’s that old hockey chestnut? Oh yeah, “It’s the name on the front of the sweater that matters, not the name on the back.”

With that in mind, we return with another THN.com summer smackdown tournament.

This time we’re tackling not just logos, but the whole darned jersey.

What are the best of the best? Which sweaters drive you up the wall? Once again we’ll rank our favorites from a whole slew of leagues, then turn the controls over to you to vote and whittle the top choices down to an ultimate jersey. We'll start the tournament with the top 40 jerseys from the different leagues, then down to a group of 16 that will go head-to-head.
