Colorado Avalanche acquire defenceman Brian Fahey from NY Rangers

DENVER - The Colorado Avalanche have acquired defenceman Brian Fahey from the New York Rangers in exchange for defenceman Nigel Williams.

The 28-year-old Fahey scored 24 points in 66 games with the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack last season. He spent the 2007-08 season with the league's Chicago Wolves, where he helped lead the club to the Calder Cup title with 10 points in the postseason.

Williams was Colorado's second selection in 2006. He had 21 points in 70 games for the Lake Erie Monsters last season.
