Carolina Hurricanes agree to deal with winger Tom Kostopoulos

RALEIGH, N.C. - The Carolina Hurricanes have agreed to a three-year deal with right wing Tom Kostopoulos.

The deal, announced Tuesday, is worth more than US$2.7 million. The 30-year-old will make US$700,000 next season, $950,000 the following year and $1.1 million in the final year of the deal.

Carolina president and general manager Jim Rutherford says Kostopoulos brings grit to the lineup and can help on the penalty kill. The six-foot, 200-pound winger will also bring size, an area of need for the Eastern Conference finalist this offseason.

Kostopoulos has played seven NHL seasons, finishing with eight goals and 14 assists in 78 games with Montreal last year.

I remember when he was on the Kings, he sticks up for his team like there's no tomorrow. He can have a big impact on how people play, I'm sure the Canes will enjoy having him, and the fans will like him too. Good luck TKo...

I like Kostopoulos, was hoping the Habs would've brought him back.
