NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins sign defenceman Jay McKee to 1-year contract

PITTSBURGH - The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed defenceman Jay McKee to a one-year, $800,000 contract.

The team announced the move Friday. McKee had one goal and seven assists and 44 penalty minutes for the St. Louis Blues in 69 games last season. The 31-year-old six-foot-four, 203-pound defenceman has played parts of 13 seasons in the NHL with the Blues and the Buffalo Sabres.

McKee has played 740 games in the NHL, with 20 goals, 95 assists and 568 penalty minutes.

Had some good years in Buff. I think he'll do better on a more skilled team like he did back then. Blues didnt have a lot of fire power up front.
