BOSTON BRUINS-Signed RW Mark Recchi to a one-year contract.

COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS-Signed LW Rick Nash to an eight-year contract extension. Signed C Trevor Frischmon to a one-year contract.

MINNESOTA WILD-Signed D Shane Hnidy. Named Dave Barr assistant coach. Retained assistant coach Mike Ramsey.

PHOENIX COYOTES-Signed LW Stefan Meyer and D Shaun Heshka to one-year contracts.

PITTSBURGH PENGUINS-Signed D Nate Guenin to a one-year contract. Agreed to terms with F Ruslan Fedotenkoon a one-year contract. Named Tom Fitzgerald assistant to general manager and Dan MacKinnon director of player personnel.

VANCOUVER CANUCKS-Signed F Mikael Samuelsson to a three-year contract.

Gee after the wheeling and dealing that has gone on the last couple of days, there might NOT be anyone worth much in the power foward slot or D-men posistions that the Carolina Hurricans could or might add. But knowing how our GM is and does, Jim Rutherford, may have a surprise or 2 yet...it's the waiting that's the hard part...how many days left until the open face off for the 2009-2010 season ? sigh...
