Canadian viewership of Stanley Cup final similar to last year

The Stanley Cup rematch is garnering similar Canadian television ratings as last year.

CBC announced Monday that 1.875 million viewers watched the Detroit Red Wings take a 2-0 series lead over the Pittsburgh Penguins, a small increase over the 1.869 million who watched Game 2 last year.

Game 1 saw a decrease from 2.1 to 1.7 million viewers.

The Red Wings won the Cup over the Penguins in six games in 2008.

In the United States, NBC's telecast of Game 2 drew a 3.4 rating and a six share. That's up from the 2.6 rating and five share of Saturday's Game 1.

The U.S. rating is the percentage watching a program among homes with televisions, and the share is the percentage tuned into the broadcast among those households with TVs on at the time.
