Status: Philadelphia Flyers left winger

HT: 6-foot-2 WT: 210 pounds

DOB: April 18, 1982 In: Regina, Sask.

Hockey Inspirations: "Everyone's inspiration, especially for myself, is winning the Stanley Cup…You want to get that Stanley Cup, so it's a big inspiration for me."

First Hockey Memory: "My first hockey game when I was five years old. We lost 46-0. Wasn't the best start to my hockey career."

Hobbies/Leisure Activities: "I like to golf, wakesurf and just relax."

Nicknames: "Bird Dogg - with two G's, double G. Harts.”

Favorite Movies: "Tombstone is a good one. That's right up there."

Last Book Read: "The Trilogy of the Golden Compass by Philip Pullman."

Musical Tastes: "I like Coldplay, they're pretty good. Pretty good live. Really good live, actually."

First Job: "Was a construction worker. Not a construction worker, I was watching concrete dry at the local grocery store. Got paid like $5 an hour to do it."

First Car: "1983 Caprice Classic station wagon (maroon)."

Current Car: "Just a GMC truck (black)."

Pre-game Feeling: "My feeling before the game? Just stay loose, have fun and when game time starts, that's when you really start to get focused."

Favorite Meal: "Chicken parmesan."

Favorite Ice Cream Flavor: "Vanilla."

Greatest Sports Moment: "Probably my first game was pretty special. My first game was in Japan against the Pittsburgh Penguins and playing against Mario Lemieux and Jagr and the stars there, that was pretty special. Just looking up and there was just all Japanese fans and you obviously don't get that over here in the U.S. and Canada…It was just different, anyway, for your first NHL game."

Most Painful Moment: "Probably leaving the ice twice in a stretcher being knocked out (laughs). Wasn't really painful though. Don't remember it."

Favorite Uniforms: "Flyers; the third jersey, orange."

Closest NHL Friends(s): "Jarret Stoll and Kimmo Timonen, on our team."

Funniest Player Encountered: "I'd have to say Vernon Fiddler from Nashville. He's got dry humor; he's always got a smile on his face. When he gets mad you can't take him seriously. He's a pretty funny guy."

Toughest Competitors: "Chris Chelios would be right up there. He's always out there, he's always playing 100 percent and he’s played so long. You respect the guy for what he's done in his career. And he's always looking to get into one."

Embarrassing Hockey Memory: "Probably throwing my hockey glove at a guy on a breakaway, giving him a penalty shot, with like 10 seconds left to go. This season, Ryan Malone, against Tampa Bay. (Did he score?) He didn't score. We ended up winning in overtime. So I kinda got lucky on that one."

Last Vacation: "Paris last summer, for about a week. Oh sorry, no, not Paris. Italy. Rome."

Most Memorable Goal: "Maybe my first hat trick in the NHL was pretty special. It was a power play goal. But just I always wanted to get a hat trick in the NHL and finally getting one was pretty cool. In Nashville."

Strangest Game:
"Well, the one game against Detroit when Jiri Fischer had his heart stop. I was on the ice. All their guys came off the bench and we didn't know what was happening. And just kind of how it all played out. It was a scary incident. But he made it through that OK. We didn't end up finishing the game; we played it a little later on. But it was pretty scary."

Personality Qualities Most Admired: "Just a good heart. And just being an honest person."
