Antti Niemi stones Moose in shootout as IceHogs win 3-2

ROCKFORD, Ill. - Antti Niemi shut the door in the shootout as the Rockford IceDogs beat the Manitoba Moose 3-2 in AHL play Saturday.

Niemi stoned Moose shooters Mark Cullen, Mike Keane and Jason Krog, while at the other end Jack Skille, Tim Brent and Pete MacArthur scored shootout goals for the IceHogs.

Evan Brophey opened the scoring for Rockford (34-29-0-6) in the second period.

Krog and Nolan Baumgartner replied for the Moose (46-19-0-6), who held the lead until Rockford centre Tyler Mosienko sent the game to extra time on a power-play goal with less than two minutes left in the third period.

Niemi made 25 saves for the win, while at the other end Manitoba goalie Curtis Sanford stopped 34 shots.
