As of Monday morning, four Central Division teams had identical 6-3-1 records in their past 10 games. The fifth team, St. Louis, really deviated from the pack with a 6-2-2 mark.

Talk about parity.

Long gone are the days of Detroit beating up on everybody in its division en route to the Presidents’ Trophy. The story of a strengthened Central goes well beyond the rise of the Chicago Blackhawks.

Columbus is poised to make the playoffs for the first time, Nashville is still sturdy under Barry Trotz and St. Louis has more or less decided to stop allowing goals of late.

It’s very conceivable all five Central clubs could make the post-season, solidifying its status as the toughest division in hockey.

The way Adam Foote left Columbus last year, sneaking out the backdoor, makes my heart feel good to see The Colorado Avs at the bottom of "everything".

Look for the Preds to keep moving up. Can they make the playoffs for the 5 straight time? I dont care what the rest of the world says about hockey in the South, the sport is growing like wildfire down here with the youth. Watch out here comes a whole new pool of talent straight from southeast USA.

how do you make the comment that the flyers can't hang with the big boys. They just went into Washington and beat them and did the same to Boston

I love how Calgary is always ranked ahead of the Blackhawks when they've both been neck and neck in point the entire season and Chicago swept them 4 games to none outscoring them 19-7. Stupid!

Canadiens too high? No.. based on the criteria THN used for other teams to move up they are were they belong? The beat the Sens/Vancouver/Philly/ and the first place Sharks seems like a pretty good week to me, 5 spots is good. I agree that the Habs need to lower the shots on goal, however Halak faced 40 shots or more only twice in the last 5 games. They played well as a team and scored some goals and deserved to win those games.

Vancouver loses 2 in the past 10, Calgary loses 1 in the past 10 (with an injury-riddled lineup I might add) still lead the division by 8 pts, and yet the Nucks go from 7 to 4 and the Flames drop from 5 to 6?....yeah, that makes sense!

Vancouver ahead of Detroit, Washington, Chicago and Calgary? are you crazy? I don't care what kind of streak the Canucks are on, they do not deserve to be ranked ahead of these teams. I'm so sick and tired of Vancouver being considered a contending team because of "Bobby Lou" - what a stupid nickname. All you Nucks fans will be quick to bash me on this becuase of Lunogo's not-so-stellar play lately and the team still winning - but that's the only reason they're being ranked so high. Give them this streak with a Curtis Sanford in net and they'd be ranked a lot lower than 4th. Luongo is way overrated.
