TORONTO - The Toronto Maple Leafs assigned goaltender Justin Pogge to the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League on Wednesday.

Pogge made 15 saves in a 6-1 loss at Minnesota on Tuesday night and was scheduled to return to the AHL afterwards regardless of how he fared. Considered one of the club's top prospects, the Maple Leafs plan to evaluate where the 22-year-old stands over the coming months.

The loss to the Wild, in which he was virtually abandoned by his defence, was Pogge's second NHL game. He beat Atlanta in December.

In 32 AHL games, he's 15-13-4 with a 2.58 goals-against average and .901 save percentage.
