The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead 6:12 into the first period. Mike Glumac's shot from point-blank range was stopped by Philadelphia goaltender Michael Teslak, but Desharnais was able to put home the rebound to give Hamilton the early advantage.
Hamilton went up 2-0 during a power play with 3:04 remaining in the period. Lehoux skated into the right circle and blasted a slapshot over the glove of Teslak that grazed the bottom of the crossbar as it went in.
Curry pulled the Phantoms within a goal just over six minutes into the second period when he beat Hamilton goaltender Loic Lacasse on a power play.
The Bulldogs answered with 7:25 left in the second period with their second power play goal. Teslak stopped Tomas Beauregard's point-blank shot, but Gainey was able to push his way free in the right side of the crease and poke home the rebound.
Kemp made it 4-1 with a blast from the left circle.
The Phantoms erased one of the goals with just over 45 seconds left to play. Matt Clackson's one-timer bounced off Lacasse and right back to Maroon, who converted the rebound to make it 4-2 and close out the scoring.
Teslak stopped 34 of 38 in taking the loss, while Lacasse earned the win with 19 saves on 21 shots.
