American Hockey League names Canadian roster for 2009 all-star classic

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Forward Jason Krog of the Manitoba Moose was one of 24 players named to the Canadian roster Tuesday for this month's American Hockey League all-star classic.

The league's leading goal-scorer, Chris Minard of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, was also named to the roster for the Jan. 26 game at the DCU Center in Worcester, Mass. There are 15 other first-time AHL all-stars on the team.

Hershey Bears defenceman Bryan Helmer was selected to captain the Canadian team. Head coach Bob Woods and assistant coach Mark French of the Bears will handle coaching duties.

The PlanetUSA AHL all-star team roster will be announced Wednesday.
