The Hockey News player of the week for the period of Dec. 15 – 21 is Phoenix Coyotes netminder Ilya Bryzgalov.
‘Cool Breeze’ posted a 2-0-1 record for the week, beating Columbus and Nashville after falling to the Dallas Stars in overtime. The 6-foot-3, 208-pound native of Russia had a .968 save percentage and recorded a shutout on the week.
In his past two games, Bryzgalov has a 0.50 goals-against average and .984 save percentage.
The Coyotes currently sit seventh in the Western Conference with a 16-13-4 record. Bryzgalov has started the past nine games and has recorded a 5-2-2 record in that span.
