Player News…

Michal Repik, RW, Florida Panthers
2008/12/16: Florida Panthers rookie forwards Michal Repik and Shawn Matthias have been assigned back to the American League's Rochester Americans. That's because wingers David Booth (shoulder), Nathan Horton (ankle) and Richard Zednik (arm) have all been activated off injured reserve. Meanwhile, defenseman Noah Welch has been recalled from his conditioning assignment with Rochester.

Mats Sundin, C, Free Agent
2008/12/16: Free agent forward Mats Sundin will likely decide this week between signing with the New York Rangers or Vancouver Canucks, reports TSN.ca. The decision could come at any moment, and will largely depend on whether or not the Rangers can create salary cap room to accommodate him. Rangers GM Glen Sather figures to be a very busy man before the holiday trade freeze.

Ryane Clowe, LW/RW, San Jose Sharks
2008/12/16: Struggling winger Ryane Clowe suddenly has goals in back-to-back games after netting a power-play marker in Monday's 3-2 shootout victory in Los Angeles. He also scored the shootout winner.

Patrick Marleau, C/LW, San Jose Sharks
2008/12/16: With a short-handed goal, red-hot forward Patrick Marleau tied the game at two for the Sharks in the second period Monday night in Los Angeles, where the Sharks won 3-2 in a shootout. He's got six points in three games.

Injury News…

Joe Pavelski, C, San Jose Sharks
2008/12/16: San Jose Sharks second-line center Joe Pavelski missed Monday's 3-2 shootout road win at Los Angeles because of a lower body injury. He's considered day-to-day. AHL call-up Jamie McGinn replaced Pavelski in the lineup for the Sharks, who were also missing Jeremy Roenick (shoulder--IR), Jonathan Cheechoo (upper body) and Torrey Mitchell (leg--IR).

Sergei Fedorov, C, Washington Capitals
2008/12/16: A recurring ankle injury is expected to keep Washington Capitals veteran center Sergei Fedorov out of the lineup Tuesday. Fedorov returned to action last week for two games after missing 16 of the previous 17 contests. However, Fedorov was re-injured on Saturday at Montreal.

Marian Gaborik, RW, Minnesota Wild
2008/12/16: Minnesota forward Marian Gaborik (lower body) could finally return to the Wild lineup as soon as Wednesday, reports the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. Gaborik has been out of the Wild lineup for all but two games so far this season. Furthermore, the Slovakian sniper has been at the center of plenty of trade rumors because of his pending UFA status, though he's likely going nowhere until he proves he's 100 percent healthy.

Erik Ersberg, G, Los Angeles Kings
2008/12/16: Kings goalie Erik Ersberg left Monday night's game with an injury in the second period. He left the game with a 2-1 lead, having made 10 saves against the Sharks. Jason LaBarbera took over for Ersberg and suffered the 3-2 shootout loss.

Frantisek Kaberle, D, Carolina Hurricanes
2008/12/16: Hurricanes defenseman Frantisek Kaberle has missed the last four games with a lower-body injury, but could return soon. He practiced with the team on Monday, according to The News and Observer.
