The Hockey News player of the week for Nov. 10-16 is Nicklas Backstrom of the Washington Capitals.
The second-year center has been on fire of late, tallying 10 points in his past three games, mostly on the strength of his playmaking abilities (eight of the 10 points were assists).
After being skunked for most of October, Backstrom has clearly shaken off any potential sophomore jinx, as evidenced by his five-point night against New Jersey on Nov. 15.
Backstrom also boasted a plus-8 rating in the past three games, bringing his season total up to plus-11.
