Carolina Hurricanes activate Brandon Sutter from injured reserve

Brandon Sutter is ready to return to the Carolina Hurricanes.

The rookie forward was activated from injured reserve on Wednesday after missing the past eight games with a concussion.

He suffered the injury on Oct. 25 when Islanders forward Doug Weight caught him with his head down while skating through the neutral zone - a legal hit that renewed the debate about headshots in the NHL.

The 19-year-old Sutter had one goal and two assists in the seven games of his career.

To make room for him on the roster, the Hurricanes sent centre Dwight Helminen to the AHL's Albany River Rats.
