Canadiens hold meeting to discuss mistakes made in 6-3 loss in Toronto

MONTREAL - An ugly 6-3 loss in Toronto prompted the Montreal Canadiens to hold their first meeting of the season on Monday.

The coaches met with the players for an hour at the Bell Centre, mostly going over film of the many mistakes made in Toronto on Saturday night. That was followed by a practice that was far more intense than usual. The coaches asked for more effort, because talent alone will not win games.

"We wanted the players to know that we have a good team when we work hard," said Carbonneau.

Defenceman Roman Hamrlik, who sat out the Toronto game with a minor injury, skated and is expected to play Tuesday night against the visiting Ottawa Senators.

Mathieu Dandenault is expected to start on the fourth line in place of Tom Kostopoulos, who was slapped with a three-game suspension on Monday for a hit from behind on Toronto defenceman Mike Van Ryn.

remember we are coming off a 6 day stretch of inactivity, the 2nd so far this season. Hard to be mentally prepared with so much time off... Now it is time for the real Habs to show up...as for the check..yes it was bad but I do not feel it warranted a suspension....proves my point..HNIC= Hockey Night in Ontario, TSN= Toronto Sports Network and now NHL is making it a trilogy. Being an Eastern Canadian and English (BTW) I find there is so much favourism to the boys in Ontario and I am glad for site like this that are unbiased and just state the facts....Thanx

The Habs better get used to another disappointment tomorrow night against Ottawa. The Sens are a much grittier, agressive team to play against. Over the past 2 weeks they have turned a corner and the likes of Ruuto, Neil, Fisher, Volchenkov, Smith and Foligno are going to hit the crap out of Montreal. Simply put, Ottawa will beat Montreal by out hitting, banging and cause havoc in front of Halak..yes Price will not start. Mtl are too skilled for thier own good. 5 - 2 Ottawa victory.

Big test for the Habs this week with Ottawa, Boston, Philadelphia and St.Louis. I expect 2-2 out of the four but it all depends on which team shows up to play Ottawa; whichever one does, the other one will show up against Boston. Split those two games. Philly has Montreal's number lately and I think Montreal lights up St.Louis. Split there as well. This is also a test to see how much of a coaching impact Carbo has on his team.
