Republican vice-presidential candidate Palin to drop puck at Blues game

ST. LOUIS - Republican vice-presidential candidate and self-proclaimed "hockey mom" Sarah Palin will drop the ceremonial first puck Friday night at the St. Louis Blues' game against the Los Angeles Kings.

The Blues say the Alaska governor and running mate of Republican John McCain confirmed Wednesday that she'll make a stop at Scottrade Center.

Palin has scheduled an appearance at a rally Friday morning at Missouri State University in Springfield.

The Blues said more details will be announced Thursday.

Hey Greg. if she's performing miracles, i'd suggest she cure Cancer (it is hockey fights cancer month afterall) rather than do anything for the game by dropping a puck. I think Ovie, Sid, et. al. can do ok on their own promoting the game. Ticket sales will not improve and the US will still think of hockey as a third tier niche sport (below car speeding, poker and bass fishing) because we're a country of red neck clowns. Palin dropping a puck won't change that.

Let hockey get as much mileage as possible out of a PR gift. We all know it can use it. Lets not blow it out of proportion (ie. HN writer) and enjoy the game.

I'm hoping with Sarah Palin bring Hockey to the news media - ticket sales will improve and the US will think of hockey as a real sport!

why not?she is someone who knows and loves the game unlike other ceremonial puck droppers who don't know the difference between a hockey stick and a baseball bat.
