Hey everyone, welcome to my blog. I’ll be sharing my thoughts and experiences with you throughout the season and give you an inside look at the life of a NHLer. Hopefully you’ll enjoy it. I’m excited to get started.

For those who don’t know me very well, let me give you some background. I was born in Rochester, Minn., and grew up in a big family with two older brothers and one younger sister. We are definitely a hockey family. Both my brothers were drafted by NHL teams and have played in the league, while my sister played at Boston College. Currently, Colin plays for the Atlanta Thrashers, while Mike plays overseas in Austria.

Growing up I played a few different sports, but mainly football and hockey. I quit football when I went to Ann Arbor, Mich., to play for the U.S. national under-18 team when I was 16 and I’ve been strictly a hockey player ever since.

Like my brothers, I went to Colorado College in Colorado Springs and majored in English. I was fortunate to get drafted by the Boston Bruins in 2003 and played in my first NHL game in March of 2006.

Off the ice, I like fishing and reading. We’ll go further into my hobbies in upcoming blogs.

Even though I enjoyed my summer, I’m really excited now that the season is underway. I thought we had a good year last year and I hope we can build on the positives and keep improving.

I like the group of guys we have in the dressing room right now. We have great chemistry and hopefully that translates into success on the ice.

That’s about it for now.  Thanks for reading and check back soon for another entry.

Mark Stuart is a defenseman in his fourth season with the Boston Bruins. A native of Rochester, Minn., Stuart was drafted out of Colorado College by the Bruins in 2003 (21st overall) and joined the club for the 2005-06 campaign.
