Jason Strudwick's third period goal puts Oilers past Stars 3-2

DALLAS - Jason Strudwick's tiebreaking goal early in the third period lifted the Edmonton Oilers to a 3-2 victory over the Dallas Stars on Sunday night in the pre-season finale for both teams.

With the game even at two, Strudwick's shot from just inside the blue-line got past goalie Marty Turco, who was screened at 5:47.

Andrew Cogliano and Sheldon Souray also netted goals for the Oilers (2-2-3). Mathieu Garon made 39 saves.

B.J. Crombeen and Stephane Robidas scored for the Stars (1-5-1).

Cogliano's goal at 1:11 after the opening faceoff put the Oilers in front.

Souray's shot from the point during the game's first power play beat a screened Turco 8:44 in to make it 2-0.

Crombeen's sharp-angle goal from the bottom of the left circle pulled Dallas within 2-1 at 11:01 of the first period, and Robidas' power-play goal at 14:46 tied it 2-2.

The Stars open the regular season Friday night, hosting Nashville. Edmonton will begin Sunday night at home against Colorado.
