LOS ANGELES - Jarret Stoll is ready to start life with a new NHL team.
The 26-year-old forward agreed to a US$14.4-million, four-year contact with the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday. The Kings acquired Stoll from Edmonton in June as part of the trade that sent Lubomir Visnovsky to the Oilers. Stoll was selected in the second round of the 2002 draft by Edmonton and spent the past four seasons in the Alberta capital.
In 286 career regular-season games, he has 59 goals and 165 points.

“I was coming in to take the boards away and had some good jump. He bobbled the puck at the last second and I don’t think he saw me coming at all. It was a shoulder right in his chest. He’s eight feet tall, so it’s not like you could hit him in the head.”
- Ottawa's Chris Neil about a hit he threw on Tampa's Victor Hedman Thursday night, causing Hedman to leave the game.
