THN.com's USHL and SPHL Logo Rankings

In getting down to the lower minors, we encounter the question of how to rate teams in leagues with so few teams.

After all, technically they’re all top 10, because there’s only six of them. Are the Knoxville Ice Bears really that different from the Huntsville Havoc? The margins become much thinner here, but rank them we must.

As for the United States League, with 12 teams in the circuit, the top 10 becomes so crucial. Is it fair only two teams get the boot? Based on our judgment, it had to be done.

THN's UNITED STATES LEAGUE LOGO RANKINGS

1		Green Bay Gamblers	A brand-new logo that just came in under the wire. The bobcat is a reference to an earlier Green Bay team, plus he has an ace up his sleeve (well, glove)!
2		Sioux Falls Stampede	The original art style of the Stampede logo makes this one a winner.
3		Omaha Lancers	Bright colors and a good-looking knight will take you far here.
4		Indiana Ice	There really aren’t enough solid yetis in hockey.
5		Cedar Rapids Roughriders	Bold colors, good rendering of the horse mascot and a cool name.
6		Sioux City Musketeers	Gained steam as the panel debated once we noticed there is a musketeer quietly hiding in the green ‘M.’
7		Lincoln Stars	It’s an original-looking star and the stick is a nice touch.
8		Waterloo Black Hawks	Some panelists thought it looked a bit like a penguin, but this hawk wins points for not trying to be too trendy.
9		Chicago Steel	True, it’s basically lettering, but the steel font looks cool.
10		Tri-City Storm	Just squeaks into the top 10, more on the failings of others than anything else.
11		Des Moines Buccaneers	As much as we love pirates, this is simply too generic.
12		Fargo Force	For an expansion team, this certainly leaves something to be desired.

1		Fayetteville FireAntz	It’s an original name and the stick on fire is a nice touch.
2		Huntsville Havoc	This is one mean-looking red wolf and would definitely look good on hats and shirts.
3		Richmond Renegades	The ‘R’ on the pirate’s hat was the logo of a previous incarnation of the team.
4		Columbus Cottonmouths	Beware the fangs of Columbus. Neat colors, too.
5		Twin City Cyclones	Perhaps the best cyclone/hurricane out there, but still a hard look to pull off.
6		Knoxville Ice Bears	It’s a burly bear, for sure, but certainly falls into a template.
