Report: Five members of German hockey team face three-month suspensions

BERLIN - Five members of Germany's ice hockey squad face a three-month suspension for failing to comply with requirements on doping tests.

The players weren't named but all failed twice to notify NADA - Germany's national anti-doping agency - about their whereabouts for out-of-competition tests, the trade magazine Eishockey News said.

"In five cases, we have started an official investigation and reported to NADA," Germany's ice hockey federation president Uwe Harnos was quoted as saying by Eishockey News. "I assume that we can reach a decision this week."

The magazine also reported that as many as 12 players from the national team could be involved.

Germany's ice hockey team qualifies for most major tournaments, placing fifth at the 2002 Winter Olympics and 10th four years later in Turin.
