New Jersey Devils sign former Canucks centre Fedor Fedorov

NEWARK, N.J. - Russian centre Fedor Fedorov was signed by the New Jersey Devils on Monday after he spent the last two seasons playing in Europe.

Fedorov, 27, had 12 goals and 14 assists in 49 games last season with Dynamo in Russia. His previous stint in the NHL came during the 2005-06 season when he played three games with the New York Rangers.

Fedorov also played in 15 games with the Vancouver Canucks during the 2002-03 and 2003-04 seasons. He spent three seasons in the Canucks' organization, playing in 116 contests for Manitoba of the AHL.

Internationally, Fedorov - the younger brother of Washington Capitals star Sergei Fedorov - represented Russia at the 2005 World Championships.

Doesn't anyone have anything to say about the story? Fedorov was a complete dog anytime I watched him play. The "story" was that his big bro sends him a regular allowance, hence the lack of any kind of meaningful desire. Can't we do better than take shots at each others sweaters?(not jerseys, I'm Canadian.)

Well now lets see what we have here, 3 , count them 3 big centermen, Holik, Rolston and Fedorov. Can any of them replace Gommer ? Time will tell. Rule out Holik, he plays a different roll, but the other 2 have possibilities. They have to find someone who can spark Elias , thats for damm sure. And if they don"t find the chemistry to score some goals this year, they'll have another disapointing year. I think Lou has one more trick up his sleeve, perhaps a trade for a top line defensemen ? Or maybe he's gonna bring up a gem or two from his minor league teams, a draftpick maybe ? Whatever it is I hope it works this time. Broduer as good as he is deserves better in front of him then what they put on the ice last season and if he was honest about it he'd say the same thing

Don't forget Rolston and Madden and Rupp at the center position. And I think Zubrus is a natural center that was moved to wing last season because he, well, wasn't very good (to be kind) in the beginning of the season. Madden and Holik are both 3rd line centers, so it'll be interesting to see what they do here. Please with the Gomez stuff already! Yes, he sprinted through the Lincoln Tunnel to go put on that disgusting uniform. But Lou wasn't going to pay $50m ($7m per) for a guy who had cracked 70 points 3 times and 20 goals once in his first 7 seasons. And what did he do in his first season in NY? 16 goals, 70 points. Is that worth the $10m he earned last season? Of course not!

Rob- you can add the Mogilny and McGillis signings to the "it makes me wonder" column. Definitely a smart, smart man, but Sam Pollack still gets my nod.

Lou offered Gomez all he could, Scotty wanted to play in New York. Breaks my heart every time I see him in that sweater.

I think it's pretty obvious the man is the greatest hockey mind of all time....although the Gomez thing makes me wonder...

Either Lou is the greatest hockey mind of all time or he has completely lost it.

“I was coming in to take the boards away and had some good jump. He bobbled the puck at the last second and I don’t think he saw me coming at all. It was a shoulder right in his chest. He’s eight feet tall, so it’s not like you could hit him in the head.”
