PITTSBURGH - The Pittsburgh Penguins acquired the rights to defenceman Danny Richmond in exchange for the rights to Tim Brent on Thursday.
The 23-year-old Richmond appeared in seven games with the Chicago Blackhawks last season. He had two goals and 12 assists in 40 games with the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League. The Chicago native was originally drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2003 draft.
The Penguins acquired Brent in June 2007 in a trade with the Anaheim Ducks. He played one game for Pittsburgh and scored 18 goals and 43 assists in 74 games for the AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins last season.
