What is the secret to taking out a player with a clean check?
Stephen Hrabec, Holden, Alta.
Hitting is all about timing, more than anything. Strength plays into it, but most of the time you can take out a bigger player if you time it right.
What are some ways to get stronger in the summer, especially for shooting?
Adam Pancoast, Thief River Falls, Minn.
Shoot a lot and use real pucks in your driveway, not tennis balls. I started working out at a gym when I was 15, too.
Since you led the league in hits this year, who did you pattern your game after?
Nicholas Duplessis, White River, Ont.
I didn’t really pattern my game after anyone when I was coming up, but the guy people talked about was Adam Deadmarsh, a pretty good player to be compared to.
What did you practise most as a young player?
Brandon Kawashima, Los Angeles
Definitely shooting. It’s the most fun and it’s the easiest thing to do if you’re not on the ice. Ice wasn’t always available when I was growing up, but everyone has a net and a stick.
Do you have any tips on being a great defensive forward?
Misel GooGoo, Whycocomagh, N.S.
Defense is all about being in the right position and trusting your instincts.

flake - ever heard of jamie storr? mark fitzpatrick? robb stauber? if so, you know where i'm going with this. And george, the shrewd gm gave cloutier 4 years 4.25 million, handzus 3 years 4.25 million. he also hired crawford whom he just fired, not to mention, he signed alyn mcauley, john klemm, and alex auld.

I've been an LA Kings fan since 1967, a season ticket holder and must have the patience of Job because I am willing to wait for our stable of young kids to develop and our goalies to become stars. We finally have some quality in our system and a guy who knows how to build a team thru shrewd drafting and development of "homegrown" kids. I see us becoming the San Jose Sharks in a year or two. Dean Lombardi was a great hire and his approach has been successful.

Sean, if you're a true Kings fan then be a little more optimistic please? The Kings do have some minor management problems, but i think the wrinkles can be ironed out. Ever heard of a young goalie by the name of Jonathan Bernier? He's only 19 i think, but give this kid some time to develop and he'll be a top-notch goalie that every team is after....and the Kings will also have a killer blue line in front of him!!!

The Kings will never win the division again (let alone the cup). They have the same curse as the Flyers and Senators. Their management refuses to either develop or buy a decent goalie.

this kid is amazing, wish he played for the Sens. This Kings team will be a monster in a few years, I have no doubt that Brown will be their leader. Nice to see him sharing tips with readers. He hits like a truck, but is a classy player all the way. I see why the Deadmarsh comparisons are being made.
