Source: Martin Straka will play in Europe next season

The Hockey News has learned Martin Straka will play overseas in 2008-09.

Reports surfaced last week that Straka would return to play in his native Czech Republic, but those reports were later denied.

A source close to the situation has now confirmed Straka will indeed leave the NHL.

Straka spent last season with the Rangers, collecting 14 goals and 41 points in 61 games.

During his NHL career, the native of Pizen amassed 257 goals and 717 points in 954 games with the Penguins, Senators, Islanders, Panthers, Kings and Rangers.

No way that the Rangers grab Morrison. I had figured that Naslund was an option if they couldn't get Jagr done but why invest in yet another C when they shelled out $14 million a year combined for Drury and Gomez last off season and have Dubinsky and Anisimov? I think that outside of another experienced D man or a trade for another scoring forward that the Rangers are done shopping for now.

Dirty Sanchez is actually Glen Sather. Don't take his bet. You've been warned.

I guess that tells us Jagr isn't going to be in Ranger Blue next season. I bet ole Slats nabs Naslund and Morrison, dollars to doughnuts, 10:1 odds. Any Takers?

“I was coming in to take the boards away and had some good jump. He bobbled the puck at the last second and I don’t think he saw me coming at all. It was a shoulder right in his chest. He’s eight feet tall, so it’s not like you could hit him in the head.”
