Florida Panthers extend qualifying offers to seven restricted free agents

SUNRISE, Fla. - The Florida Panthers have made qualifying offers to seven of their restricted free agents.

Panthers general manager Jacques Martin said Wednesday that the club made offers to Jay Bouwmeester, Gregory Campbell, Drew Larman, Martin Lojek, Stefan Meyer, Rostislav Olesz and Anthony Stewart.

The Panthers did not extend qualifying offers to three of their restricted free agents - Garth Murray, Adam Taylor and Martin Tuma.

I think Bouwmeester needs to be on a winning team for a change, I think the guy could be the next Lidstrom if in the right market! He has paid is dues already.

If I'm Boumeester I hold out for a trade, I get the heck outta there cause being a part of a terribly managed team does nothing but harm to a players market value. He would fetch 6 to 7 million in any other market.

Smart move with Bouwmeester. They'll have to pay market rate this way and don't have to worry about someone else extending one of those crazy offer sheets like Vanek got. Half the General Managers in the NHL had to be thinking about extending Bouwmeester an offer sheet. Someone would have front loaded and made things very stressful for the Panthers.
