BARRY IS THE MAN!!!! The problem with hockey in general are the snobby fans like all of you. Melrose will be a great presence in Tampa. Anyone who doesn't like him is not welcome anyways. Keep your money, the Lightning don't need fans like you.

Hey Stephen, jazzy dresser, are you kidding me? Melrose has been wearing the same 3 suits on ESPN for the past 8 years.

I shake my head in disgust.. Melrose of all people!.... I hadn't renewed my season tickets.. now I know I won't bother. I can watch this from home, and not be as embarassed!........... Tort's, will have no problem finding another coaching job.. I will miss him and wife.. his mom and Dad at the games...... John is such a nice guy, one on one.. extremely considerate of others too! I know first hand.. of his generosity for others..... Any team that gets Tort's is going to shine.. up that cup!.............Melrose, lol during the playoff's he was in town for ESPN... the TBL fans could not do or say enough negative about the guy. I don't care what he has won in the past... he is not the person for the Lightning or the Lightning fans!........ saved myself a bundle on tickets and parking and gas.. so thanks for the heads up....... Melrose won't last long in Tampa Bay.

Hey, give the guy a chance. Melrose has won in the past and has been hungry for a bench. He brings professionalism and a sense of disciplined play to the Bolts. Torts is a great coach and competitor and will find employment soon enough. Sometimes change can be a positive thing. Best of luck to both coaches.

Barry Melrose is a winner. He has won a Memorial Cup. He's won a Calder Cup and he was a stcik measurement away from winning a Stanley Cup. This is great news for Tampa fans. I have just become a Lightning fan.

Unlike ol' Chuck I think Barry is at best an unknown and a poor fit for our team. Thank God this annoumcement has come early enough for me to cancel my season tickets and get on board with the Florida Panthers...

I'm sorry to hear about your recent addition-maybe Barry will bring in his man of the power of positive thinking, like he did before the 7th game in L.A. in which he lost as his assistant. I'm glad I'm a Pens Fan.

Bringing Barry melrose doesn't even like the lightning , They need to leave Torts, and get rid of Feaster

You can only coach was the GM gives you in talent. The Lightning need scouting and a hockey GM. The problem is Feester not Torts.

As a Dallas fan, I was hoping he'd land in San Jose so I could laugh at them. As a Dallas fan harboring no ill will on Lightning fans, I'm sad for you. I hope it works out better than I expect, but I can't stand that guy and wouldn't trust him to lead a train along rails.

“I was coming in to take the boards away and had some good jump. He bobbled the puck at the last second and I don’t think he saw me coming at all. It was a shoulder right in his chest. He’s eight feet tall, so it’s not like you could hit him in the head.”
