The Hockey News player of the week for the period of May 19 to 25 is Detroit Red Wings goalie Chris Osgood.

The 35-year-old helped book his team's ticket to the Stanley Cup final by making 28 saves in a 4-1 win over the Dallas Stars in Game 6 of the Western Conference final.

Osgood then turned in a shutout performance in Game 1 of the final as Detroit jumped out to a 1-0 series lead with a 4-0 victory. While Pittsburgh only totaled 19 shots on goal, 11 of them came during a first period in which Osgood had to be very sharp to keep the game scoreless.

The two-time Cup champion has an 11-2 record this spring with a miniscule 1.48 goals-against average, a .935 save percentage and two shutouts.
